The current README lists COLORS, TILT, ZOOM, SHADER FX, GAME SPEED and VOID FILL in the Options menu, and these choices persist in options.lua. The former stock 5 / GBC FX shortcut is no longer listed in the v0.2.60 controls.

Version 0.2.37 added separate SPEED - and SPEED + rows to the controller bindings. Either action can be assigned to another controller button or disabled instead of keeping game speed on L2/R2. Mobile touch controls also have a corner key-bar toggle for SAVE, LOAD, SPEED, COLOR, TILT and ZOOM.

How to Change the Controls

  1. Open Gen1Recomp and start an imported game.
  2. Open Options.
  3. Choose Controls.
  4. Select the action you want to change.
  5. Press the replacement key or controller button and confirm the new mapping.

Movement, A, B, Start and Select are rebindable, and the current controls also expose the two controller game-speed actions. The global keyboard save, load, visual and mod-manager hotkeys are not documented as part of the same remapping screen.

Controller and Keyboard Tips

  • Use the arrow keys or WASD for movement.
  • Z and X provide a compact two-button layout; Enter, Space and Backspace are alternatives.
  • Laptop function keys may require the keyboard's Fn modifier for F1, F2 or F10.
  • Controller labels differ between Xbox-style, PlayStation-style and Nintendo-style layouts, so follow the physical button detected by Gen1Recomp.
  • Third-party mods can register their own shortcuts. Check the mod's documentation before treating an extra key as a built-in control.

Display Timing Options

The v0.2.37 options add a V-SYNC row and a display-aware frame cap. Version 0.2.39 adds PresentSync handling to detect effective presentation behavior and improve frame pacing on drivers and screens where refresh timing is not a clean multiple of 60 Hz. Versions 0.2.41–0.2.46 refine frame pacing, handheld idle rendering and platform-specific presentation behavior; v0.2.51 corrects display-paced frame caps for the active run loop. Adaptive VSync was removed from the selectable modes in v0.2.47 because it caused problems on unsupported platforms, and old saved Adaptive values now resolve to On.

Version 0.2.54 adds LOGIC CLOCK to each game's Options screen. It switches game-logic timing between 60 Hz and the cartridge's 59.73 Hz VBlank rate; it does not change the display refresh rate.

Keys for Mods and 3D Play

Press F10 to open the Gen1Recomp mod manager. DramaticShapeVoxelMod has separate number-key controls for its presentation effects; follow the Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow 3D setup guide for those mod-specific bindings.
